Humans have invented language as a way to preserve knowledge over generations, in the culture.
Over the last 5000 years we’ve learnt to store language (on papyrus at first) and now we can even store and reproduce visual at scale.
Any other knowledge we possess is still preserved in our DNA by evolutional selection.
There are 2 things I read between the lines here.
First, is that if there would be a more efficient way to preserve knowledge over generations other than language and DNA, evolution might select for that. Is AI that thing? Systems that learn themselves without human intervention will definitely change the culture. And AI might make culture, and even language superfluous.
Second, is that there is immense power in culture and language, that is preserved and protected by our species. If AI is a new species, it might not adhere to our human culture. And it seems a smart idea to be thoughtful of this new species on our planet.
AI is not an animal, and I don’t know whether or not this is a symbiosis.
