There’s so much you can learn in traditional school.
Math, geography, art, economics.
But frequently overlooked are real skills. Mindset, gameplay, time management, ownership, patience, negotiating, setbacks, job search, the list is long.
There’s no ‘class’ in this. Schools expect students to learn this ‘along the way’. Bald assumption.
Traditional schools teach our intellect, but rarely our emotion.
Half of what I do daily, I haven’t done before.
With which I want to state that our intellectual abilities are worthwhile to train, but just as much as our emotional abilities.
Us humans, we can distinguish ourselves from computers. But not by trying to teach us how to do the things we want computers to do.
We must teach ourselves people skills, so we can do the people things.
Like helping others. Making change. Making sacrifice. Doing the emotional labor to make something unique, something remarkable, something that’s actually a stupid idea but turns out to be the best thing ever.
We must train our people skills, together.
