How could I miss this

Wow.

I have just found out the first person ever who’s bio I read that was not ‘just another bio’. It was not ‘me, me, me’. It’s ‘you, you, you’.

Here’s the story:

I came across David Nebinski’s profile page on a community we’re both in. David is a friend of mine and one of the most generous people I know, I wanted to send him a message so had to go to his page for the DM button. I happened to see his bio and immediately connected. What I discovered is that he has reinvented how to write a bio (in my opinion). It shocked me, because it’s so simple, yet so remarkable. The bio isn’t about him. It’s about the reader.

And since I’ve read this I can only think ‘how could I miss this’. How could I ever think that bio’s were about ‘me’. The bio isn’t a place to tell about ‘me’, it’s a place to connect with ‘you’.

Why are we all writing bio’s. It’s our way of telling who we are. And here’s to making them better.

Thanks David.
