It was on January 15th 2002, that one of the most visited bloggers in the world, Seth Godin, started posting. on his famous blog (I don’t remember, I did just look up his first post online).
But it was the Provincetown Helmet Insight in June 2004 that ‘really started things off’ nearly 2,5 years later (which is 896 days and blogposts).
One of the things I learnt from Seth is that being a professional requires showing up, even if you don’t feel like it. It’s what Bob Dylan did when we went on stage, it’s what the heart surgeon does every day, it’s what the brave single mom does.
As creators, we want to be recognized, acknowledged and picked. We want to be seen.
But the thing is, what people see is the tip of the iceberg that rises above the water. It requires showing up and emotional labour. We won’t get picked if we sit and do nothing.
Accepting that sometimes progress is just showing up and doing the work.
Nothing more, nothing less.
It took 896 days for Seth to get there.
