What is a thriving community? This idea is stuck with me for some time now.
Is it measured by the number of members? Followers? Active collaborators?
A community is a group of people that is bound in a certain way, for example culturally (gamers, fishermen), geographically (neighborhood, country), or in any other way.
However, when we talk about communities in the marketing world, I so often hear the term “followers”.
Followers are people that have hit the subscribe button and that willingly but unknowingly are poked by an algorithm to stick with the channel for some more eyeball-time.
Followers are never the right measure. Instead, measure for active community members. They might just change the course of your brand and influence others to jump on the train as well.
