Rethinking monsters

“Daddy there’s a monster”

Since the last 3 weeks I was really starting to unappreciate this sentence.

When I brought Emily, our 2,5 year old to bed, monsters appeared just when the kiddo needed to be quiet – of course they weren’t real.

And getting rid of the monsters was a time consuming activity… She is stalling.

And I only wanted to go downstairs to do other stuff, monsters were killing the bigger part of my evening. Being upstairs, fixing a monster problem.

“don’t go downstairs daddy, there are monsters here – vicious cuticle.

But then I’ve thought of a solution where the two problems would best meet each other.

“I’ll bring this monster downstairs.”

Monsters gone, kiddo quiet, gives me me-time.

Job well done.
