“You sit here”, says an orange gaffa-tape cross with written on it the number ‘9’, on the desk in my workplace. Of course, the cross doesn’t literally speak. But it does tell me that this is my place for now. Because we have a social-distancing policy in the office. And it works fine.
Now today I noticed the cross again, after not noticing it for over a month. It’s become part of a new reality in which I seem to perform fine.
Orange crosses are everywhere in our lives, and we don’t notice them because we human beings adjust rapidly to new situations. Is it then important to notice, you say? No, it isn’t. It’s just an opportunity to be grateful for where you are and what you have now.
