Shortening the low-part of the cycle

Every person lives in cycles where things go more and less like you want them to go. It’s the outcome of the ‘system’ of your life.

Systems are working this way, because there are variables and margins. Things that depend on each other and all those things have a margin of error.

When the margin of a variable is exceeded, that variable will affect other variables.

Other examples that I believe have variables and margins are nature (evolution) and economy (growth, depression).

If you see the system, you can discover the variables.

If you have uncovered the variables, you can discover the margins.

If you know variables and margins, you can optimize so that the system evolves.

Example. What I have discovered a couple of years ago, is that more than 3 cups of coffee/day (margin threshold) dramatically worsens my system.

And because of my ‘depression’ (I’m not depressed, it’s a metaphor) last 2-3 weeks, I thought the coffee problem was back up. I had like 5-7 cups a day.

Coffee, I believed – still do – is one of the root variables that was messed up.

Just this week I discovered that sleeping less than 7 hours dramatically lowers my resistance for the coffee-trigger (makes sense…). And this allows me to fix the variable so that the system improves.

What really helps shortening the cycle this year is having an active reflection process. To me that’s a daily short check-in, weekly longer check-in and monthly longer check-in.

However the check-ins changed with all the corona stuff, sleep did as well and coffee as well.

Last week I focused on physical and mental health (sports, sleep) and today, monday, new month, I feel ready to RUMBLE!

Today I’ve started a new cycle of growth, after my last recession/depression of 3 weeks (after a growth cycle of 3 months).

Life consists of cycles, it’s your job to shorten the lows and extend the highs and secure your evolution.
