Marie Kondo your life

For a week now I’m intentionally saying goodbye to something in my life on a daily basis. In order to make space for new things. When I committed, I thought this was mainly about my geographical-, and time-‘space‘ (mainly my calendar). But I discovered that it’s about my physical ‘space’ as well (my house).

6 days in, I have already learnt a lot.

That intentionally saying goodbye to something requires mind space. And that I need to make time for it, otherwise I don’t honor my commitment.

That letting go of stuff is liberating! Seems obvious, and I knew this from the ‘big’ projects like cleaning out a closet, room, attic, garden shed, e-mailbox, calendar etc. But didn’t know that at this small level the effect is completely the same.

Now at last the lightbulb: That even in this short amount of time (6 days) my relationship to ‘stuff’ (mostly physical right now) is changing. I seem to more easily let go of stuff that I have kept for the idea of having it. I discover that thinking about why I have stuff and do things is liberating and opens up perspective to let go of stuff.
