Last Friday our cat Zoë has passed away.
She was 9.
These are just a few of the learnings that I have learnt from her.
Cuddling is like magic and is always OK. Even if the other forgot something really important (like giving you food, already for two days). No need to be bitchy.
Sleep, as often as you can and as long as you can. Sleep is great for your mood and your fur. If necessary, sleep with one eye open.
Everything you so, do it with tremendous grace and pride, so people can distinguish you from dogs. You are better than that, you are a higher form of life. Show it in your walking, jumping, rubbing and meowing.
But seriously.
Cats are loyal animals if you feed them. And Zoë, I fed every day for years already. She was always there. It was a gift having her around.
I’m going to miss that small animal curling up against my leg when I enter the living room in the morning. And the the ticking of her nails on the floor.
What new I have learned last Friday is that cats don’t show that something is wrong with them, until it’s way too late. We knew something was wrong when we went to the animal care, but then Zoë was in such incredibly bad shape already: and she didn’t show it to us until it was too late.
I think there’s multiple life lessons in there.
