Every once in a while I get remembered how important it is to articulate your plans and intentions.
This week I was reminded of this when I shared my plans for going running in the morning on a daily basis, with my girlfriend Bernice. I was thinking about this for one or two weeks now, but, didn’t take on the opportunity to go ahead and put plans into action.
Over the last months, I have gained a few pounds and it’s time to lose them. But in order to do so: I need to plan. My week is packed with work – kids – work – kids – etc…
When I shared the running ideas (or immature plans if you will) (and the ‘why’) that morning, in the afternoon she already went ahead in proactively planning for me. Sending me this WhatsApp message: “Oh, and on Wednesday I can go running, after you”. Indicating that I could go running then. Proceeding with “Oh, and on Tuesday I have the kids arranged, so you can go running then as well.”.
The reminder here is that when we articulate our plans, and moreover the ‘why’ behind the plans, people will help us. Even without you asking. But they just need to know what we can be helped with.
