The highest form of commitment is our duty.
We call upon duty when we ‘sort of’ say that there’s no choice but to do the task that’s layed out for us. Whether we like it or not.
But duty isn’t any more than a greatly marketed term in our culture to enforce behaviour.
It’s marketed so strong that we don’t even see it anymore.
Duty is this hero-status thing to pursue.
We want to fulfil duty.
It’s an honour (another marketing term).
But it’s not.
It’s not ‘free’ when we don’t get a say in what’s important for ourselves.
So how liberating is it too choose and pursue the values you hold dear, instead of someone else’s marketing campaign for your behaviour.
It’s not duty that calls.
It’s you, who has decided for yourself that this is the path you will follow to honor your values and beliefs
You have chosen this. Now take credit for it.
