Reversing addiction

Every habit can be called an addiction and vice versa.

The trouble is: habits grow you, addictions demolish you.

Habits we usually call behavior we know we show routinely that is productive or ’the right thing’ (don’t mix this up by saying that all habits are easy).

Addictions we usually call behavior we show routinely (and compulsive), that isn’t productive.

We have so many addictions we see as habits (or worse, we don’t see it), that we habe stopped a long time ago to think critically about that behaviour.

Using social media, compulsive phone use, denial, multitasking, waiting for a gap to speak instead of listening, having a drink on Fridays, having a coffee as a first thing when you wake up, doing the ‘pity-talk’ to yourself when you show bad behaviour. The list is long.

It’s time to become aware of your addictions and do something about it if you want to level up.
