There’s no way we can define followership, except when we relate it to leadership.
In our Western culture and societies leadership is promoted. Followership doesn’t even have it’s own definition.
Followership isn’t promoted. Why?
When we follow, we have so much more mind space available to learn than when we lead.
Followership can be very fulfilling.
Followership can be very hard.
Followership can be very thoughtful.
If we try to follow (our kids) versus lead, we might discover a whole new world.
“there’s no monster” or follow – “there’s a monster, let’s help it get home” –
“wake up the baby to drink, it’s necessary to grow” or follow “when the baby sleeps, don’t wake it up to drink, she’ll wake up when she’s hungry” –
“listen to what’s important; your parents and teachers” or follow “listen to your heart”
Let’s try to follow and learn.
