When we want something, like losing weight, a gold medal, a promotion, we fight the status quo.
We make food our enemy, second-place our enemy, colleagues. Whoever, whatever, whichever is the problem between us and our deepest desire.
But that’s the blocking thing. That foe. That boogieman who is always there. Fear. It’s even that we don’t see a boogieman anymore. It’s finally unconsciously that we’re fighting that foe.
But if we can stop ‘fighting’ the status quo and start making fun, we get the sense of ‘play’ back. And that’s when we win.
Most sports people can’t win because they fear failure. Until they find their play and start winning.
All great achievers, when you observe them, they have befriended their goal and everything that’s between them and that goal.
When there’s no foe fear anymore, you see bravery, vulnerability and perseverance. And ultimately you win.
