Point of attention

My friends, you can’t work your back-hand, forehand, and strategy, all in an Olympic field-hockey final. But should you work on one? Of course.

Winning coach Marc Lammers explains in his book ‘Flow’, that he provided every player with a personal point of attention, for every match. Because to remain in a flow, you need to have some challenge to improve your skills; otherwise, you’ll get bored. However, it needs to be a realistic one. Marc had a player score a goal in the final with a back-hand; her bad shot. She’s a perfectionist and if he had coached her on all her shots, she would’ve been stressed out. But she had one job in that final: focus on your back-hand shot.

This week’s point of attention is: Take more time to choose.

To me, this is a personal point of attention. What’s yours this week?
