Once you see, you can’t unsee

I’m a positivist. To me that’s looking at what goes well, and not spending too much energy on stuff that doesn’t go well. Focusing my energy on that what gives energy. My coach always tells me that every once in a while I should look at the ‘negative energy things’ or stuff that doesn’t go well. But I never understood why and how. Why would you spend time with stuff that doesn’t give you energy? Only now I have a new understanding of that.

When you learn something new, the old status quo is gone in the blink of an eye. It’s hard to imagine that and why you have never understood that it was ever different. Sometimes it’s a very small insight to get you there.

I was never very afraid to look at the ‘stuff that doesn’t go well’-things. I just didn’t want to waste my energy. But since I’m actively reflecting so much more often, I discover that spending time with the ‘stuff that doesn’t go well’-things is actually energizing. It provides new insight and opportunity, and then it creates a real image of what’s going on. Nothing important is left behind anymore.
