There’s space to manoeuver in every negotiation. Unless there’s not a match at all between budgets (money, time, space), let’s put those out of scope.
Although there’s space to negotiate, there’s always the edges of possibility and will. Some stuff is just a bridge too far, we call that non-negotiable.
For Tesla, creating cars that are electric is non-negotiable.
For Rico Verhoeven, training every single day is non-negotiable.
How about evaluating your non-negotiable commitments? Some non-negotiable daily habits may be deprecated. Some habits you’d like to have may not be non-negotiable yet… That’s why you can’t get there.
When you make something non-negotiable, you will make something else negotiable. That’s the trick.
To me, taking a daily cold shower in the morning is non-negotiable. Just as meditating. And I’m on the brisk of making more non-negotiables for this year, to optimize towards a more impactful life.
