Just recently I received my first f*ck you e-mail.
I’ve known the concept for a while but I just never had the honor to receive one.
For those of you that don’t know: a f*ck you e-mail is an e-mail that states “hey you haven’t opened our last X e-mails so we assume we are irrelevant to you and if you don’t take action by replying to this mail we will take the liberty of unsubscribing you from our list.”
What it felt like was that I was falling short by not reading the e-mails, that I knew. Although I did want to, but just couldn’t prioritize it over tons of other stuff the last couple of months. It’s a once every couple weeks mail; but one of some more bloggers I follow.
I responded to the mail with apologies and promised to engage more with the mailings of this blogger. And I recognize that I do now. Wow.
Either you win a committed subscriber, or you lose a disengaged one.
