Algorithms

Last week I drove in my car, jam after jam. My Waze kept pushing the time, as the ride proceeded.

Waze should know what’s the fastest way right?

We tend to forget that algorithms are mostly right, because they can analyse information and decide much faster than a human brain ever can. Based on the past this is your future and you should act this way.

That’s the tricky part.

Algorithms cannot imagine what might be. They are programmed to make stuff efficient and opportunity is per definition inefficient.

You should be aware that opportunity distinguishes humans from computers. A computer would not do dumb things (unless it’s the trick, but it’s not), though sometimes dumb things are just the right thing to do.
