When I was doing research for my book today, I discovered that many people ‘freely’ cite Mihaily Csikszentmihalyi.
It was about the brain, being able to consciously process 120 bits per second.
Some articles quoted Csikszentmihaily at 100 bits per second, some 110, some 120.
After a minute of 15 googling, I found Czikszentmihaily’s article about ‘Flow and the foundations of positive psychology’.
Indeed, people estimated to be able to consciously process 120 bits per second.
I came across several articles, writing 110 or 100 (google “Csikszentmihaily + 100 bits”). No written source named, nor linked.
I even came across an article of someone claiming to have had Czikszentmihaily as a professor. Again, no written source named, nor linked.
If you have a source, name it. If you have none, don’t claim it.
